Friday November 18 is the Feast Day Mass for St. Philippine Duchesne. The Mass will be celebrated at St. Ferdinand Shrine, #1 rue St. Francois Florissant MO. Everyone is welcomed to attend the Mass which begins at 7:00 AM. The Celebrant will be Father Jack Siefert from St. Mary Magdalen Parish.
We will be offering tours of the Shrine and will give formal tours beginning at 6pm. You will also be able to tour the complex after the Mass. We welcome all to this historic complex. St. Philippine came to Florissant in 1819, opened a school for girls and became a very important part of the development of Florissant. The convent where she lived and worked was built in 1819. It is still in its much of its original condition. The Church was built in 1821 and improvements made in 1888. The Rectory was built in 1840 and Schoolhouse began in 1840 and second floor added in 1888.
After the Mass there will be a reception held in the Schoolhouse. Light refreshments will be served.
